Our hugely popular Starlight Musical Theatre classes consists of 11 classes (aged defined), involving singing, dancing, and drama. Children receive tuition from different specialist teachers in dance, drama and singing, instead of one teacher for all disciplines.
Being associated with a large established dance school (UK 'Dance School of the Year' winners in 2018/2019), you can be confident our Performing Arts Saturday course provides the children with the best dance, singing and acting classes in the area.
Quality performing arts courses shouldn't cost an arm and a leg like in expensive franchise courses. Our reputation in the area makes us the most sought after course of its kind in Reigate & Redhill, with top West End teachers to ensure every child reaches their full potential. Children also have the opportunity to take Musical Theatre Exams, and all pupils have an abundance of performing opportunities throughout the year.

MONDAYS
Our Monday classes are taught by ex West End professionals who excel at getting the most out of each child's potential. These foundation classes (from ages 4+) give children a grounding in finding their own confidence, and teaches the core elements in musical theatre - singing, dancing, acting, performing, and (on Wed) tap dance, with established classes already in place for when they get older.

Our main aim at Starlight is for children to grow as compete confident individuals, and achieving the best. Many at Starlight also take additional dancing and singing classes with us, for those who are really keen, while others want to pursue their focus on acting through drama and song. Many of our children learn modern dance and tap dance also, as this compliments the musical theatre styles.

Children should be seen and heard
All disciplines help improve a child's confidence, co-ordination and social skills giving them a firm grounding to further their performing arts training in college, degree courses. theatrical performing or to simply help learn new life skills and become confident individuals.
Suitable for all abilities, our musical theatre course brings together many styles of dance and singing, in a fun environment. Children are grouped in appropriate age groupings as we don't believe in having a wide variety of age ranges in the same class - it's not productive.

The children at Starlight perform - we don't feel one big show a year is providing the skills children need. We perform in many local events and we are well known in the area for providing fun quality training. Starlight Performing Arts also have their own unique show every year, and being part of a large established and award winning dance school, we provide a montage for the main dance school show as well.
Many Starlight pupils also perform in other events, including the Reigate Christmas Lights, Royal Albert Hall and Strictly Come Dancing's Pasha UK tour. Occasionally we add a full scale production to the list of performances also, performed at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill.
This main Starlight course is a very cost effective £11 per week payable per term (1.5 hrs p/w)

Teachers
All our teachers are highly qualified and working professionals in their own field. Three of our teachers have had extensive commercial and West-End experience; one has been Head of Music at the renowned Arts Educational School in London, and other teachers have London West End show experience - West Side Story, Cats, We Will Rock You, The King and I, Ghost, and many more - Theatrical Experience Galore to pass on to your children!

LAMDA (Drama)
Starlight is affiliated with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), and we offer specialist training for children who want to gain examinations in their drama and gain valuable UCAS points.
Our Lamda teachers offer tuition to all RSB pupils, and classes take place after our main Starlight course on Saturday mornings.

Grade 1 starts from approximately age 6 and above. Every child is assessed individually to ensure the correct grade for them at the beginning.

Private and Group Singing Lessons in Reigate
Starlight have 2 singing teachers and 1 musical director associated with the school. We have one teacher who teaches private singing lessons (or in pairs). She has much experience with teaching children, and she is a musical theatre soloist in her own right, and an ideal inspiration for children aspiring to be soloists themselves.
While Starlight focuses on singing as a chorus, and providing tools for children to improve their vocal skills - projection, tone, diction, learning to harmonise effectively and increasing the confidence of children to start singing in smaller groups and solos, private singing lessons can focus on the individual voice, and learning to gain confidence, increase musicality and develop vocal technique to project as a soloist over a shorter time.

MUSICAL THEATRE EXAMINATIONS

Being part of Starlight Performing Arts offers children the opportunity to take optional Musical Theatre examinations via the London College of Music. These offer an ideal for children to improve their solo performance skills, interpreting the songs, characters and improve performance and confidence.
We ensure some of the songs are covered in our regular classes, and children who opt to take exams, are offered extra tuition to prepare them fully for their own renditions.
London College of Music is a recognised Music board and from grade 6 upwards gains invaluabe UCAS points for students. We teach all grades from preliminary to grade 8.
